So I recently was taught how to knit by a friend. I learned how to cast on and do the simple knit and purl stitches. Fortunately, I know how to crochet, so I caught on fairly quickly. I’m starting to really master it now, and have decided it’s time to tackle a “real” project instead of continuing to make blobs (i.e. never ending rows of stitches).
So, for my first project I am making….(drumroll, please!)…this nifty bolero:
I found this free pattern on Pinterest (where else?!). And I’m pretty excited to try it out.
Wish me luck!! I’ll post about my progress semi regularly (hopefully I will have positive progress to share), so stay tuned!
Are you a knitter? If so, what are you working on right now? If not, would you like to be? Or are you crafty in some other way? I’d love to hear all about it!!
I used to know the very basics of knitting and made 3/4 of a scarf. No idea how to crochet and am just learning sewing.
I was actually surprised how easy it is to crochet, and I’m finding that knitting is not nearly as scary as I had feared! I know enough sewing to be dangerous, but I’m certainly no expert!
I’m more of a paper crafter so fabric is new and scary lol if only there were enough hours in the day to master it all.
I’m not sure I’m coordinated enough to knit. My grandma tried to teach me once as a kid, it wasn’t pretty. Ha ha ha. I love all kinds of other crafts, especially those involving home decor of some sort.
Yes, I did find that knitting takes more coordination than crocheting- I guess it’s the whole two-needle thing? But I found once I got into a rhythm it was very doable!
Keep at it! Once you get the hang of it, it becomes much easier! And it’s super fun learning new patterns!
